Highlighting the need of ratification of the UN Convention on the rights for persons with disability

RIGHTS TO BECOME REALITY!

      In the frame of the program activities in 2010, Republic center for support of persons with intellectual disability-PORAKA continuously lobby for ratification of the UN Convention on the rights for persons with disability. Within the program ”Straightening the citizen involvement in the legislative process” of National Democratic Institute (NDI) and Institute for Parliamentary Democracy (IPD) PORAKA become partner. Taking in consideration the importance of this legally binding agreement, PORAKA in partnership with the NDI and IPD undertook joint activities.

  • Article “Our rights to be reality” written by Dr.Vasilka Dimoska, Program Manager of PORAKA, published in daily newspaper “DNEVNIK” 20 March 2010.
  • Preparation and distribution of the informative material relating th UN Convention: flayers, posters and booklet in easy to read format with the financial support of National Foundation for Democracy.
  • Meetings of representatives of local branches of PORAKA with the Members of the Parliament in collaboration with the offices for communication with citizens supported by the NDI and IPD.

      The aim of these activates was focused to emphasize the importance of the UN Convention on the rights for persons with disability, need for ratification as a part of the process for equalization of the rights of persons with disability as an equal citizens in the society.
